Thrilled to be announced Devon Landscape Artist of the Year last Saturday at The Mayne Gallery in Kingsbridge. Thank you so much to Devon Life Magazine and The Mayne Gallery. It was a great evening with lots of amazing paintings and lovely people. This is one of my paintings that is exhibited up until the 21st April.
I’m very excited to be picked as one of the six finalists for Devon Life’s Landscape Artist of the Year. I’ll be exhibiting at the Mayne Gallery in Kingsbridge at the end of March with the other finalists where the winner will be announced! Thank you Devon Life.
Established Devon artist, Belinda Reynell, invites you into her studio/local gallery to view her new work this year in the forthcoming county-wide arts event, Devon Open Studios.
It is the largest showcase for artists in the county and Belinda Reynell will be joining hundreds of artists opening their doors for 16 days from 9th –24th of September 2017.
Belinda will be taking part for the first time, and is looking forward to her part of the event held at Dairy Cottage, Crazelowman, Tiverton, EX16 7DG. Belinda returned to painting two or three years ago after initially studying Illustration at Chelsea School of Art and Brighton University. Living in Devon she was inspired to paint again by the local landscapes and seascapes and fell in love with oils as a medium.
Painting is a part of Belinda’s everyday life in Devon and she is inspired by the atmospheres and emotions created by the beautiful landscapes and seascapes around her. “I strive to portray my emotions that I feel being in all these stunning locations by using various techniques to create textures, with brushes, palette knives, toothbrushes and even surfing combs!”
Belinda is one of five artists that won Emerging Artists awards this year.
Visiting Devon Open studio is enormously informative because you can see at a glance how the artist works and have the chance to speak to them directly about the creative process. The interaction between artists and viewer creates opportunities that support every stage of artistic production and development.
Belinda Reynell is looking forward to the show and hopes that Devon Open Studios will help raise her profile. Free to the public, the event provides a unique chance to see the new work.
Devon Open Studios produces a comprehensive guide to help visitors plan their own art trail and combine browsing art with enjoyment of the county’s fantastic scenery. The guide can be downloaded from the Dan website and FREE copies of the guide are now available at tourist information centres, libraries, galleries, and hotels.

Very excited this week to get a last minute opportunity to exhibit here at The Glorious Art House in Exeter, 13-20th July. It’s a wonderful art cafe in Exeter’s independent quarter. Well worth a visit.
Very pleased and excited to have been awarded one of the Emerging Artist Bursaries for the Devon Artists Network for Devon Open Studios 2017. The open studios will run from Saturday 9th September to the 24th September. I’ll be exhibiting my work at my home studio at Dairy Cottage, Crazelowman, Tiverton, EX16 7DG during these dates. Come and have a look at my paintings and have a cup of tea and if you’re lucky a piece of cake!
Winning artists! Photo by Matt Austin
Very very excited that I won the Abstract Painting Award a couple of weeks ago at my local art society. My kids were very impressed that I won a cup! It’s normally them bringing home the silver for various sporting activities. Here’s the painting that got the award.
My first blog for a very long time I realised, the last one was last November so apologies. I’ve been too busy enjoying painting. I’m really finding it very liberating working in more of an abstract way still with oils but focussing on atmosphere and colour predominantly. Here is one of the first paintings I did with this in mind. Hope you like it.
My fastest painting to sell so far. I went for a walk a couple of weeks ago on the Cornish Coast whilst visiting my parents and got inspired again by the beautiful Lantic Bay beach. I’ve known this beach all my life and it always takes my breath away and always looks different. This painting was a result of the walk and was sold before the paint was dry.
