September Newsletter

It’s been a busy week! It started with a trip to Fowey to deliver 10 paintings to Fowey River Gallery. Fowey and Polruan are my favourite places in the country and I’ve visited it most years since I was a kid. Me and my daughter made a day of it and did the Hall Walk and enjoyed our ferry trips. The rest of the week I’ve spent with a lovely group of artists at The White Room in Crediton preparing for Devon Open Studios. If you fancy a day out I recommend a visit. This is a great year with a mixture of painters, ceramicists, wood maker, basket maker and print makers. It’s only 9 days this year so don’t miss it!

Spend an arty day in Fowey, Cornwall

Why not spend a day in Fowey. There’s a couple of great art galleries including Fowey River Gallery and The Old Bank Gallery. I am part of the Autumn Exhibition at Fowey River Gallery which runs from 14th September to the 11th October. There’s also a wonderful selection of cafes and places to eat, many of which have amazing views over the Fowey Estuary. Walk along to Ready Money beach or up on to the stunning coast line.

Spend a few days in Lynmouth on an Art Retreat

I am teaching again at Lone Pine Retreats from 12th -15th October. Do get in touch with Claudine if you fancy a little break with incredible food and plenty of painting.

New Paintings

This month I’ve been carrying on with my moorland paintings and of course bluebells have made an appearance in some of my woodland pieces. Devon springs to life in the summer and there is so much inspiration to draw from. Seascapes have also featured. Beautiful memories of a trip to Cornwall formed a pair of paintings, one of which is below. New additional small paintings on paper are also available on my website.

Check my website for details and prices. https://belindareynell.com/product-category/seascapes-on-canvas/

Exciting news from Totnes. The Cider Press Gallery is changing it’s name to Mooch Art and Makers. Its location stays the same along with the familiar artists and makers and plenty of new. Also they will be selling Dartington Crystal and Glassware. It’s a real creative hub and always worth a visit. So pleased to have recently made a couple of sales, both woodland pieces.

Bluebell paintings are proving popular at The Wey Gallery in Godalming. The painting below sold recently and another one is winging its way to the gallery. Lantic Gallery in Tiverton also is showing a treescape, “Easy Like Sunday Morning”. Do get in touch if you’d like more details. My work is also at Fowey River Gallery in Fowey, Cornwall.

A final note. Keep checking the newsletters for upcoming exhibitions. I will be doing Devon Open Studios again this year at The White Room in Crediton with a group of artists and makers. I’ve been busy running workshops including black and white collage, pen and wash, mixed media and large canvases all inspired by Dartmoor. There will be more to come including an en plein air drawing morning on Dartmoor. There have been great results. I particularly liked the mini paintings in water mixable oil. We worked on 4 paintings in one go and finished with 12 each!

February’s newsletter

My first newsletter of 2026! January seemed to pass me by. I did manage to get some trips out into the countryside in a rare gap in the rain and gather inspiration for a new series of Moor Paintings. Looking forward to the weather drying up so I can get back up there with my sketchbook. I’ve been working with black ink and wash and also with acrylics in sketchbooks to take back to the studio. In fact I’ve based my new block of workshops on the moors and can’t wait to meet up with some of you in the coming months and share some creative inspiration!

I’ve spent quite a bit of time working on my website and finally my online painting tutorials are available to buy and should download automatically when purchased. December newsletter

I really can’t believe it’s December already and nearly the end of 2025. Where did that go? Firstly I’d like to thank everyone for your amazing support this year. It has been an exciting year full of workshops, online teaching, demos and talks, along with plenty of painting sales. Here are a few highlights.

Winning the People’s Prize at the Thelma Hulbert exhibition in the summer was a real highlight. I felt very lucky to be part of such a great show.

Thelma Hulbert Exhibition

I’ve been lucky enough to be part of many great exhibitions, including The Blundells Spring Art Fair, The Big Colyton Art Show and Open Studios. Despite the tough economy it’s been a great year full of sales and I’m looking forward to lots of productive painting at the beginning of 2026 to build up a body of work again.

In October I moved house and am now happily in my new studio. A bit of an upheaval but it feels great to have a change.

Just a few weeks now till Christmas. Don’t forget there are bargains to be had in my Christmas Shop up until the end of December, with all the small oil on paper pieces at £50. https://belindareynell.com/product-category/christmas-shop/

Lastly hope you have a peaceful and happy Christmas. See you in the 2026!

November newsletter

It’s November already! October went so quickly I didn’t have time to do the newsletter. Plenty to tell you in November starting with the next exhibition, The Big Colyton Art Show, a favourite each year with plenty of talented local artists. It’s this weekend and all the details are below.

Just a quick thank you to everyone that came to Devon Open Studios at The White Room in Crediton this year. It was a very successful year with plenty of visitors and lots of sales. It’s such a great couple of weeks spending time with a lovely group of people and meeting visitors and new customers.

The reason why October was so busy was that I moved home. I have a new studio which is very exciting and settling in well and just getting back to doing some painting after a bit of a break.

Lastly I have been working hard on my website to make it a bit more user friendly, so do have a look. It’s a work in progress, but I now have a proper shop area under BUY DIRECT. The next step will be to make my tutorials downloadable.

Thanks for taking the time to read my newsletter.
